this policy covers the discord bot named ego ("the bot"). it does not cover the wider ego project, the website, the token, or any other surface. the bot is operated on instructions from the team behind the ego project ("we", "us", "the operators").
01what the bot does
the bot posts announcements and operational updates to discord servers it has been invited to. it does not read user message content, log conversations, or build profiles of users. it does not run third-party analytics inside discord.
02what we collect
- nothing user-specific by default. the bot does not store user identifiers, message content, presence, or behavioral data.
- operational identifiers. discord requires the bot to know server ids, channel ids, and the ids of messages it has itself sent. we keep these only to operate the bot (e.g., to update or pin the right message later).
- direct messages. the bot is not designed to receive direct messages and does not reply. if you DM the bot, the message timestamp and content may be retained briefly for moderation; don't share anything sensitive there.
03what we don't do
- we don't sell, rent, or share data with third parties.
- we don't track users across servers.
- we don't use bot output for personalized advertising or behavioral profiling.
- we don't share data with the operators' other surfaces (the website, social accounts, token activity) beyond what's already public.
04retention
operational identifiers (server ids, channel ids, sent-message ids) are retained for as long as the bot operates in the server. on bot removal, this data is purged from active systems within 30 days. we may keep aggregate, non-identifying counts (e.g., "the bot ran in N servers") indefinitely for project reporting.
05your choices
- remove the bot from a server at any time via discord's standard server-management UI. that revokes the bot's access immediately.
- to request deletion of any data we may hold relating to you, contact us (see below). we'll respond on a best-effort basis within 30 days.
06third parties
the bot runs against discord's API and is bound by discord's own privacy policy for anything that happens inside discord's platform. we don't add additional third-party processors.
07changes
we may update this policy. material changes are reflected by the "last updated" date at the top of this page. continued use of the bot after a change constitutes acceptance.
